 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1 Je chanterai les miséricordes du SEIGNEUR pour toujours: avec ma bouche ferai-je connaître ta fidélité à toutes les générations.

 1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

2 Car j’ai dit: La miséricorde sera édifiée pour toujours: ta fidélité établiras-tu dans les cieux mêmes.

 2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

3 J’ai fait une alliance avec mon élu, j’ai juré à David mon serviteur,

 3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,

4 Ta semence j’établirai pour toujours, et ton trône édifierai-je pour toutes les générations. Selah.

 4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.

5 Et les cieux loueront tes prodiges, ô SEIGNEUR: ta fidélité aussi dans la congrégation des saints.

 5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.

6 Car qui, dans le ciel peut être comparé au SEIGNEUR? Qui, parmi les fils des puissants peut être semblable au SEIGNEUR?

 6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

7 Dieu est grandement à craindre dans l’assemblée des saints, et doit être traité avec révérence par tous ceux qui sont autour de lui.

 7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

8 Ô SEIGNEUR Dieu des armées, qui est un SEIGNEUR fort semblable à toi? Ou à ta fidélité tout autour de toi?

 8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?

9 Tu maîtrises le déchaînement de la mer: lorsque ses vagues s’élèvent, tu les apaises.

 9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

10 Tu as brisé Rahab en morceaux comme quelqu’un qui est tué; tu as dispersé tes ennemis par ton bras robuste.

 10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.

11 Les cieux sont à toi, la terre aussi est à toi: quant au monde et ce qu’il contient, tu les as fondés.

 11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.

12 Le Nord et le Sud tu les as créés: Tabor et Hermon se réjouiront en ton nom.

 12 The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.

13 Tu as un puissant bras: solide est ta main, et élevée est ta main droite.

 13 Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.

14 La justice et le jugement sont l’habitation de ton trône: la miséricorde et la vérité iront devant ta face.

 14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

15 Béni est le peuple qui connaît le son joyeux: ils marcheront, ô SEIGNEUR, à la lumière de ton regard.

 15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

16 En ton nom se réjouiront-ils tout le long du jour: et en ta droiture seront-ils exaltés.

 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

17 Car tu es la gloire de leur vigueur: et dans ta faveur notre corne sera exaltée.

 17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.

18 Car le SEIGNEUR est notre défense; et le Seul Saint d’Israël est notre roi.

 18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

19 Alors tu parles en vision à ton seul saint, et dis: J’ai prêté secours à celui qui est puissant; j’ai exalté celui choisi parmi le peuple.

 19 Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

20 J’ai trouvé David mon serviteur, de mon huile sainte l’ai-je oint:

 20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:

21 Avec lequel ma main sera établie: mon bras aussi le fortifiera.

 21 With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.

22 L’ennemi ne l’extorquera pas; le fils de l’immoralité ne l’affligera pas non plus.

 22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

23 Et j’abattrai ses adversaires devant sa face, et je tourmenterai ceux qui le haïssent.

 23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

24 Mais ma fidélité et ma miséricorde seront avec lui: et en mon nom sa corne sera exaltée.

 24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

25 Je placerai aussi sa main sur la mer, et sa main droite sur les fleuves.

 25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.

26 Il me criera, Tu es mon père, mon Dieu et le roc de mon salut.

 26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

27 Aussi je ferai de lui mon premier-né, plus élevé que les rois de la terre.

 27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

28 Ma miséricorde garderai-je pour lui à tout jamais, et mon alliance tiendra ferme avec lui.

 28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

29 Sa semence aussi ferai-je durer pour toujours, et son trône comme les jours du ciel.

 29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

30 Si ses enfants abandonnent ma loi, et ne marchent pas selon mes jugements;

 30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;

31 S’ils violent mes statuts, et ne gardent pas mes commandements;

 31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;

32 Alors je visiterai leur transgression avec le bâton, et leur iniquité avec des coups.

 32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

33 Néanmoins je ne lui retirerai pas entièrement ma tendre compassion, et ne laisserai pas ma fidélité faire défaut.

 33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.

34 Mon alliance ne violerai-je pas, je ne modifierai pas non plus la chose qui est sortie de mes lèvres.

 34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

35 Une fois ai-je juré, par ma sainteté que je ne mentirai pas à David.

 35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

36 Sa semence durera pour toujours, et son trône comme le soleil devant moi.

 36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.

37 Elle sera établie pour toujours comme la lune, et comme un fidèle témoin au ciel. Selah.

 37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

38 Mais tu l’as rejeté et abhorré, tu t’es grandement courroucé contre ton oint.

 38 But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.

39 Tu as annulé l’alliance de ton serviteur: tu as profané sa couronne en la jetant à terre.

 39 Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.

40 Tu as abattu toutes ses haies; tu as mis en ruine ses places fortes.

 40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.

41 Tous ceux qui passent par là le pillent: il est un outrage pour ses voisins.

 41 All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.

42 Tu as placé la main droite de ses adversaires; tu as causé tous ses ennemis à se réjouir.

 42 Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.

43 Tu as aussi émoussé le tranchant de son épée et ne l’as pas soutenu dans la bataille.

 43 Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.

44 Tu as fait que sa gloire cesse, et tu as jeté son trône à terre.

 44 Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.

45 Tu as abrégé les jours de sa jeunesse: tu l’as couvert de honte. Selah.

 45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. Selah.

46 Combien de temps, SEIGNEUR? te cacheras-tu pour toujours? ton courroux brûlera-t-il comme un feu?

 46 How long, LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?

47 Souviens-toi combien ma vie est courte: pourquoi as-tu fait tous les hommes en vain?

 47 Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?

48 Quel est l’homme qui vit, et ne verra pas la mort? délivrera-t-il son âme de la main de la tombe? Selah.

 48 What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

49 Seigneur, où sont tes précédentes bontés compatissantes, lesquelles tu as jurées à David dans ta vérité?

 49 Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth?

50 Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de l’outrage de tes serviteurs; comment je porte en mon sein l’outrage de tous les puissants peuples;

 50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;

51 Avec lequel tes ennemis ont outragé, ô SEIGNEUR; avec lequel ils ont outragé les pas de ton oint.

 51 Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

52 Béni soit le SEIGNEUR à tout jamais. Amen, et Amen.

 52 Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
