1 Maintenant touchant les choses offertes aux idoles, nous savons que nous avons tous de la connaissance. La connaissance enfle l’orgueil, mais la charité édifie.
|
1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
|
2 Et si quelqu’un pense qu’il connaît quelque chose, il ne connaît rien encore comme il devrait connaître.
|
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
|
3 Mais si quelqu’un aime Dieu, celui-là même est connu de lui.
|
3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
|
4 En ce qui concerne donc de manger de ces choses qui sont offertes en sacrifice aux idoles, nous savons qu’une idole n’est rien dans le monde, et qu’il n’y a pas d’autre Dieu sauf un.
|
4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
|
5 Car bien qu’il y en ait qui soient appelés dieux, soit au ciel, ou sur la terre (comme il y a beaucoup de dieux, et beaucoup de seigneurs),
|
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
|
6 Mais pour nous, il n’y a qu’un seul Dieu, le Père, duquel sont toutes choses, et nous en lui; et un seul Seigneur Jésus Christ, par lequel sont toutes choses, et nous par lui.
|
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
|
7 Quoi qu’il en soit il n’y a pas en chaque homme cette connaissance: car quelques-uns ont conscience de l’idole à cette heure ils la mangent comme une chose offerte à une idole; et leur conscience étant faible est souillée.
|
7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
|
8 Mais la nourriture ne nous recommande pas à Dieu: car, si nous mangeons, nous ne sommes pas les meilleurs; et, si nous ne mangeons pas, nous ne sommes pas .
|
8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
|
9 Mais prenez garde de peur qu’en quelques manières cette liberté qui est vôtre, ne devienne une pierre d’achoppement pour ceux qui sont faibles.
|
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
|
10 Car si quelqu’un te voit, toi qui as de la connaissance, être assis à table dans le temple d’une idole, la conscience de celui qui est faible ne sera-t-elle pas encouragée à manger ces choses qui sont offertes aux idoles;
|
10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
|
11 Et par ta connaissance le frère faible périra, pour lequel Christ mourut?
|
11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
|
12 Mais lorsque vous péchez ainsi contre les frères, et blessez leur faible conscience, vous péchez contre Christ.
|
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
|
13 C’est pourquoi, si la nourriture fait que mon frère s’offense je ne mangerai aucune chair tant que le monde existe, de peur que je fasse en sorte que mon frère ne s’offense.
|
13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
|
